3 Summer Decor Color Schemes that Seamlessly Transition into Fall

I’m always so excited to decorate for summer—the colors! The energy! But when it comes to fall, some of those brights seem a little… enthusiastic for the season change. That being said, I don’t want to have to redecorate the whole house every season. Here are some colors I love to decorate with in the summer, and how to work them through the fall.

Summer Shade: Coral

Fall-ify it with… Chocolate. In summer, it’s fun to contrast this shade with crisp, peppy colors (think: navy, white), but for fall, play up the orange tones to make it feel fresh. Try chocolate, cream and taupe, and maybe mixing in burgundy and pumpkin for a tonal effect.

Clinton Kelly Aqua Pillows

Summer Shade: Aqua

Fall-ify it with… Indigo. In summer, Caribbean blue begs for tropical pairings (hot pink! neon orange!). Come fall, get your ocean inspiration from stormy, deeper sees. I love blue on blue, so consider mixing aqua with indigo, cobalt and teal.

Clinton Kelly Yellow Pillows

Summer Shade: Lemon

Fall-ify it with… Stone. In summer, I like lemon alongside its citrus-y counterparts—lime, orange, grapefruit—but for fall, it’s about letting the shade be the star. Neutral tones like stone, slate grey and ivory let it shine.
