DIY Super Easy Paper Punch Valentine’s Cards

I love creating my own Valentine’s Day cards. I mean, what’s more thoughtful than making something from scratch, then filling it with your own sentimental (or sexy!) words? So here are three simple card ideas easy enough for people who don't think they're crafty—plus suggestions for text—to keep your love life humming this holiday. A paper punch does most of the work, so all you’ve really got to do is cut and paste. Cocktail anyone?

Sweets for My Sweet

  • scissors

  • plastic wrap
  • small heart punch
  • scrapbook or other colored papers
  • scrap piece of clear plastic (from packaging, etc)
  • glue or double stick tape
  • monofilament

Method

  • Cut out a rectangle for your card (our card was 3”x5”) and a smaller rectangle for the front panel of the card. Glue or tape the smaller panel to the front of card.
  • Punch out heart shapes from the colored paper.

  • Cut out circles slightly larger than the hearts from the clear plastic, then glue or tape the hearts onto the plastic (this will create the round candy shape).
  • Wrap the circles with plastic wrap, twisting on either side to secure, then tie them with monofilament so they don’t unfurl.
  • Attach “candies” to front of card with glue or double stick tape.

I Just Wanna Eat You Up

You will need

  • scissors

  • aluminum foil

  • red Sharpie
or other permanent marker
  • scrapbook or other colored papers
  • double stick tape or glue
  • large heart hole punch

Method

  • Cut out a rectangle for your card (our card was 3”x3”) and a smaller square for the front panel of the card. Glue or tape the panel to the front of card.
  • Punch out a heart shape with brown paper

  • Color a square piece of foil about the size of your heart with the red permanent marker.

  • Place adhesive on most of the front of the heart, leaving the top right area free of adhesive. Place the foil onto the adhesive and wrap the edges around the back of the heart; let dry.
  • Trim any extra foil and peel away the top right corner to expose the brown heart underneath. Cut teeth marks out of the heart, then glue the heart to the front of the card.
