2 No-Fail Outfits that Work for Any BBQ

What to wear to the company picnic, backyard bbq or family reunion? Something stylish that’s still comfy when the mercury’s rising. Here are two looks I’m loving right now that are great for highlighting your best assets—but since I’ve seen ’em go wrong all over town, we’ve called on a few of our favorite bloggers to show us how to do it right. Hint: It’s all about balance!

Cool combo #1: Maxi skirt + T-shirt

A long skirt gets a little princess-y if you dress it up too much. Pair it with a t-shirt (tucked or tied) to keep the boho vibe and add a statement necklace for an evening affair. The best part of this look? You can sit down in the grass without worrying about flashing Larry from accounting.

HOT TIP: A streamlined skirt naturally lengthens you, making you look taller and leaner.

Cool combo #2: Shorts + Button-front

Wearing shorts with a tank is fine for the beach—but if you’re hanging out with Grandma, class ’em up with an oxford. Keeping your top covered can tone down a bigger chest or tummy, and that extra crispness makes these easy-going bottoms party-appropriate.

HOT TIP: Show off just one asset at a time so you don’t look skanky: Wear your shorts a little loose and make sure your cheeks are covered so all we see are your lovely legs instead of checking out your booty, too.
