Easy Dessert: Transform Mini Rice Krispies Treats into Petits-Fours

As anyone who’s read my book knows, being fabulous is not about spending a lot of time and money on something, it’s about making it LOOK like you spent a lot of time and money on something. So I declare this spin on Rice Krispies Treats the most fabulous dessert ever: Take the easiest dessert known to man, dip it in chocolate, add sprinkles and voila! Gorgeous little treats as chic as petits-fours—and just as delicious—for a fraction of the cost or effort. Serve these at the next party or baby shower you host!

Rice Krispies Treats Petits-Fours

Ingredients

  • 3 tsp butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
  • 6 c puffed rice cereal (like Rice Krispies)
  • 1 c chocolate chips
  • sprinkles and/or coconut flakes

Directions

  • In large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted; remove from heat.
  • Add rice cereal; stir until well coated.
  • Use a spatula to spoon into a 13x9-inch pan lined with parchment paper, then press with parchment paper to make the surface even; let cool. Cut into roughly 1-1/2 square pieces.
  • Over low heat in a double-boiler or in a microwave, melt the chocolate.
  • Dip the treats into the chocolate, using a spoon to even out the surface. Cool a few minutes.
  • Pour sprinkles into a small bowl. Dip the chocolate end into the sprinkles to coat. Let cool completely before serving.
