Celebrate July Fourth with a Red, White & Blue Rope Wreath

We’re serious about celebrating America. But not so serious we’d spend $90 for a store-bought wreath when we could make an awesome one for under $20. For this project, we used a mix of sisal and braided rope for a nautical-inspired rope wreath that combines all my key elements of style (color, pattern, texture and shine!) in one patriotic package.

Nautical Rope Wreath

You will need

  • straw wreath form

  • 3⁄8” natural sisal rope

  • 3⁄8” diamond braid ploy rope

  • 3/16” diamond braid poly rope
  • hot glue gun

Directions

  • Secure one end of the sisal rope to the back of the wreath form with hot glue; let dry. Repeat with one end of the 3/8” poly rope.
  • Wrap the sisal rope twice around the wreath, then wrap the poly rope once. Repeat this pattern, wrapping the sisal twice and poly once, adding a little hot glue to the back when necessary to keep the rope in place. Continue until wreath is fully covered, then secure ends with hot glue.
  • For wreath accents: Cut two 24” lengths of 3/8” poly rope. Tie them into a Carrick knot (find a tutorial here), then hot-glue it onto the wreath form. Repeat two more times with 3/16” poly rope.

Nine years ago, I made a vow to live my life based on three guiding principles: Love, Awe and Gratitude. Today, instead of feeling sad, angry or anxious about The Chew’s cancellation, I will look through the lens of Gratitude and thank: My cohosts, @chefsymon and @carlaphall, for being two of the greatest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. The crew and staff of The Chew for being so dedicated, hardworking and collaborative. Our viewers for allowing us into your homes each day to share a laugh and a recipe — and a cocktail. It’s been a fun run and I am so freakin’ lucky to have been a part of it. Much love, CK ❤️

This photo was taken the day my mom brought me back to the US from Panama, where I was born. She had jet-black hair and a tan, whereas I was basically translucent, with white hair and big blue eyes. Security guards stopped her in the airport because they thought she was smuggling someone else’s baby out of the country. So, I guess it’s time for everyone to come clean. I was indeed stolen. I am actually a Norwegian prince. Where’s my 👑, Terri?!?! Where. Is. My. #%^*ing. 👑?!? 🤪 Happy Mother’s Day!!! I love you. Sorry I’m so weird. ❤️
