Paper Medallion DIY Ornament Clinton Kelly

Monogram Medallions

I love the high-low look of these ornaments that mix simple brown paper with some holiday glitz. Festive words would work just as well as initials.

You Will Need

  • Kraft paper scrapbook sheets, size 12x12
  • Cardstock in red, green gold and pink, size 8x12
  • Ruler
  • Exacto knife
  • Letter stencils
  • Pencil
  • Gold metallic marker
  • Craft glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hole punch
  • String

  • Cut three strips of kraft paper into strips of 3x12.
  • Score and fold each strip, alternating fold every 1⁄2 inch.
  • Glue all three strips together to create one long strip.
  • Glue the two ends of the strip together to create a circle fan.
  • Secure ends together with hot glue and hold till dry.
  • Cut circles of various sizes out of gold and colored papers.
  • Pencil in letters on circles using stencil and then fill in with gold pen.
  • Glue gold circle to center of fan, then glue monogramed circle onto gold circle.
  • Punch hole at top and string loop for hanger.
Geometric DIY Ornaments Clinton Kelly

Geometric Ball

Blue is my favorite color. Mix various shades with silver, create geometric shapes and the result is a sophisticated ball that would cost a pretty penny in stores.

You Will Need

  • Paper mache ball ornaments
  • Pencil
  • Rubber band
  • Painters tape
  • Craft paint in shades of blue, silver and white, all in satin, gloss, pearl and metallic finishes

  • Place 3 rubber bands across the ball so they crisscross and meet in one center point. This will create 6 triangle-shaped spaces.
  • Trace the triangles with a pencil using the bands as your guide.
  • Still using the three lines as guides, fill in additional triangular shapes freehand with pencil.
  • Assign each paint color a number. Then assign a number to shapes on the ball in a pattern of your choice, until all shapes are numbered.
  • Starting with number 1, tape off shapes with painters tape, paint, let dry. Repeat until all colors are used and all shapes have been painted.
