5 Beauty Tips to Get That Just-Had-Sex Glow

Pale, pasty, drab and dry—winter skin is the pits. But it doesn’t take much to get that just-had-sex glow, thinking dewey and flushed. I tapped my makeup artist friend Gaby to tell us how to brighten up skin for winter.

Just had sex glow

Wear an ultra-rich moisturizer at night, and exfoliate before you apply it a few nights a week to get those old skin cells out of the way. For day, either switch to a heavier moisturizer or swipe on another coat once it has soaked in. And drink lots of water, too—beauty starts from the inside!

Lighten Your Foundation

“The average person doesn’t need a ton of foundation, and you want your natural red glow—the one you get from walking outside in the cold—to show through,” says Gaby. Skip the heavy, cakey foundation and use a sheer liquid one instead to even out your skin tone. If you have trouble zones, tackle them with concealer afterwards.

Add the Glow

Swipe a shimmery highlighter (Gaby likes Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow Primer) at the points where sunlight would hit: At the top of your cheekbones, down your nose, on the Cupid’s bow of your lip and at the top of your chin. “Don’t add too much, there’s a difference between shimmer and shine,” says Gaby.

Warm Up Your Cheeks

Define your contours—the area you discover when you suck in your cheeks—with a pink-toned cream bronzer, like Josie Maran’s Coconut Water Cheek Gelee in Honeymoon Honey. Dab it into the hollows of your cheeks and then blend upward toward the area where you applied the highlighter.

Powder Sparingly

Skip the all-over face powder and use a brush (not a sponge) to lightly dust pressed powder along your T-zone. Then use another big fluffy brush to apply a peachy powder blush, like Nars Orgasm, onto just the apples of your cheeks to capture a hint of that sunburned look (without the skin damage). Done!
