Say NO to Flip Flops! Here Are 3 Shoe Styles that Work for Summer

Going on a picnic? Whether you’re trekking up a mountain or just out the backyard, resist the urge to go fully-functional when it comes to your footwear. Repeat after me: No workout shoes outside of the gym! No rubber flipflops beyond the dorm shower stall! Here are three comfortable, casual summer shoe options that won’t have you sacrificing on style.

  • An espadrille wedge. Like a little height? This heel offers the surface area of a flat—so you’re not sinking into the grass—with ankle support to keep you from topping over.
  • A strappy flat. Anything too skimpy will slide right off—choose a pair that gets over the top of your foot and around your heel. Bonus points for a rubber tread if you’re really going over the river and through the woods.
  • A breathable slip-on. Made of canvas or woven leather, these will protect your tootsies from any natural elements without making your feet sweat.

#fbf to 1994 (ish) with my buds, @richardwiese and @wendirogerstv Bought that sport coat on sale for about 20 bucks because that’s all I had in the bank. Was 10% wool and 90% “other.” Got caught in the rain with it and smelled like wet dog ass all night.

Nine years ago, I made a vow to live my life based on three guiding principles: Love, Awe and Gratitude. Today, instead of feeling sad, angry or anxious about The Chew’s cancellation, I will look through the lens of Gratitude and thank: My cohosts, @chefsymon and @carlaphall, for being two of the greatest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. The crew and staff of The Chew for being so dedicated, hardworking and collaborative. Our viewers for allowing us into your homes each day to share a laugh and a recipe — and a cocktail. It’s been a fun run and I am so freakin’ lucky to have been a part of it. Much love, CK ❤️
