Spring Runway Trends for Real Women

Women ask me all the time, “How can I wear trendier clothing without looking like I'm trying too hard?!” I tell them it’s pretty easy: pair trendier pieces with classics like straight-leg pants, dark wash or white jeans, a classic blazer or cardigan, white button-front shirts, and you can stay current while still feeling like yourself. My Kelly by Clinton Kelly Spring Collection incorporates some of this spring’s hottest runway trends in wearable silhouettes that anyone can pull off. No matter your age or body type. Read on for advice on how to rock three of my favorite trends.

Wearing the denim trend from head to toe can be a challenge - Canadian tuxedo anyone? Instead of searching in vain for the perfect denim top and bottom, pull out this easy shirt dress for spring and summer. It's the new LBD - the little blue denim - a staple your wardrobe can't be without. The relaxed fit skims curves and the versatile braided belt cinches in at your natural waistline to show off your figure. With the right accessories, you can wear it all year round!

Keep it balanced: create long lines with a beaded necklace and nude heeled sandals to lengthen the leg . Kelly by Clinton Kelly Denim Dress with Roll Tab Sleeves, $65.00; QVC.

Romantic Florals

Designers are still falling in love with florals for spring. To avoid looking like your grandmother's couch, try an understated print in a subdued color way. This butterfly and flower print has a retro feel and is available in modern turquoise or fuchsia. The cut of this blouse flatters, with an easy fit that floats away from the body instead of clinging. And a slit on top of the arm exposes just the right amount of skin – where everyone looks good!

Keep it balanced: with straight-leg pants in neutral navy and a cute pair of wedge-heel sandals. Kelly by Clinton Kelly Cold Shoulder 3/4 Sleeve Blouse, $54.36; Pull-On Knit Pants with Side Zip, $54 both QVC.

Sequins are still hot, hot, hot on the runway, but can be intimidating in real life. If you’re feeling unsure about how to wear them, start with something simple, like this sequin patterned tank in black and white. The sequins aren't too shiny and the colors are neutral, so it works during the day and at night.

Keep it Balanced: A straight-leg black pant and nude pump gives the whole look a subtle and slimming silhouette. For something more glam: add a shoe or bag in a neutral metallic or bold red. Kelly by Clinton Kelly Sequin Top & Pull-On Knit Pant with Side Zip, $54; QVC

Coyote urine. It’s the reason my hydrangeas actually bloomed this year. (Deer repellent.) And after her thorough sweep of the gardens for chipmunks, it’s what Mary smells like right now. #bathtime Happy Saturday!
