An Enchanted Garden Cocktail

Drinking and Gardening: Two of my favorite things. It’s too early even for tulips here in the Northeast, but my windowsill herbs are flourishing. That—and my Effortless Table place setting by the same name—is the inspiration for this Enchanted Garden cocktail. Aloe and basil give it a cool freshness, and combined with coconut water and lemon, it almost tastes like a health tonic. To yours!

Enchanted Garden Cocktail

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coconut water
  • 1 oz aloe juice (this can be found at most health food stores, Whole Foods or Trader Joe's—or substitute simple syrup)
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 2 basil leaves
  • ice

In a cocktail shaker, muddle the vodka, coconut water, aloe juice, lemon juice, and basil leaves. Add ice and shake vigorously until chilled. Pour into a chilled coup glass and garnish with a sprig of basil.

#fbf to 1994 (ish) with my buds, @richardwiese and @wendirogerstv Bought that sport coat on sale for about 20 bucks because that’s all I had in the bank. Was 10% wool and 90% “other.” Got caught in the rain with it and smelled like wet dog ass all night.
