At-Home Pumpkin Spiced Latte

To partake in the seasonal ritual of a pumpkin-flavored coffee at Starbucks will run you at least $3 or upwards of $5. Let me save you some cash and add some flavor to your life. You can make a Pumpkin Spiced Latte in your own kitchen (I do!). My recipe has way less fat, sugar, calories and sneaky chemicals than the lattes you buy on your lunch break. And yes, it costs much less. And that makes my pumpkin spiced latte taste even better.

Pumpkin Spiced Latte

At-Home Pumpkin Spice Latte


  • 1-2 shots brewed espresso (or strong brewed coffee)
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 tsp. each allspice, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon (or 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice)
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

(Minus the coffee, this “syrup” will last a week in the fridge so you can mix up extra)

Whipped Cream Topping (optional)

  • 1/4 c. whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. each allspice, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon (or 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice)
  • Pinch of shaved nutmeg (optional)


  • In a small saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, spices, pumpkin and vanilla and heat through.
  • Pour into mug over brewed espresso.
  • For whipped cream topping: Combine whipping cream, vanilla and spices in a small bowl; whip until peaks form. Pour over latte and top with shaved nutmeg, if desired.
