People are really into Christmas cookies. But not everyone can whip up a snow globe-shaped treat with ornate winter scenes done in 10 shades of icing. The baking inept (or uninterested) don’t have to miss out on tradition. This is the one recipe you need for an easy and delicious cookie. It has all the elements of a winter delight: It’s tart, sweet and chewy. Watch them disappear.

Orange Cranberry White Chocolate Christmas Cookies


  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/ 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1/ 2 c. dark brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. grated orange zest
  • 2 tbsp. freshly squeezed orange juice or orange extract
  • 1 /2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 c. dried cranberries
  • 2 c. white chocolate chips


  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking soda and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugars. Incorporate egg, orange zest, orange juice and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Fold in cranberries and white chocolate chips.
  • Place tablespoon-sized scoops of dough, evenly spaced, onto cookie sheet.
  • Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden on the edges but soft in the middle. Cool for 5 minutes, then place on a cooling rack.
