Skip the Coffee Shop and Make Glazed Lemon Pound Cake at Home

I’ve fallen hard for Starbucks’ Iced Lemon Pound Cake, but I hate shelling out a few dollars for a piece of cake—especially when my Glazed Lemon Pound Cake is even more delicious, will cost you about $5 to make the whole loaf, and uses ingredients you already have in the house. Enjoy!

Homemade Starbucks Lemon Pound Cake

Glazed Lemon Pound Cake

  • Serves 8-10
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 45 minutes


  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 c granulated sugar
  • 1 c sour cream
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • juice and zest of 1 large lemon, held separately
  • 1 ½ c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • ⅔ c confectioner’s sugar


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, sugar, sour cream, vegetable oil, and lemon zest until completely combined. In a separate medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  • Mix the dry mixture into the wet mixture, and then pour the batter into a lightly oiled loaf pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until a cake tester comes out clean from the center of the pan. Allow to cool slightly, and then remove from pan.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioner’s sugar and lemon juice. Add the water little by little until the glaze is loose enough to pour over the cake. Slice and serve.
